Choices

Men and women have always been faced with the task of making choices. In Genesis 2:16-17 Adam and Eve made the wrong decision to eat of the forbidden fruit in the midst of the garden. This brought sin into the world and they were banished from the garden. We must choose between right and wrong. Colossians 3:25 says, “But he who does wrong will be repaid for what he has done and there is no partiality.”

We need to choose who we will serve. Joshua 24:15 says, and if it seems evil to you to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods of which your Fathers served that were on the other side of the river or the gods of the Amorites in whose land you dwell, but as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord. We must choose the only true and living God, Creator and Sustainer who is revealed in the Bible. Matthew 4:10 Jesus says,” away with you, Satan! For it is written, ‘you shall worship the Lord your God, and him only shall you serve.”

We must choose to hear his word, because faith comes by hearing the word, Romans 10:17. His word tells us that in order to be saved we read in James 1:21” we need to lay aside all filthiness and overflow of wickedness and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls.”

We have choices to determine our destiny, there are two gates, (narrow and broad) there are two ways, (wide and narrow) there are two groups, (many and few) and two destinies (life and destruction) as stated in Matthew 7:13-14, “Enter by the narrow gate for wide is the gate and broad is the way that leads to destruction, and there are many who go in by it. Because narrow is the gate and difficult is the way which leads to life and there are few that find it.”

We also have a choice of the way we die, we can die in our sins and go to that place of eternal damnation and be in torment forever or we can die in the Lord and have eternal rest and peace.

We must choose this day whom we will serve, we need to choose today to be a child of God.
